"Digital transformation of companies - Digital Coach".
The project addresses the question of how to promote the necessary skills to shape digital transformation in companies or organisations. To achieve this, the project team is developing a training program for Digital Coaches. It is aimed at people working in education and training and combines two concepts that are already well established: Learning Factories and the maturity model "Adaptation" developed by the President of Production Systems in Bochum.
"Adaptation was developed in extensive projects with practitioners and has proven to be useful in supporting companies to identify their 'gaps' in their digital transformation process and what specific measures they need to take," explains Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Kuhlenkötter, Head of the Learning and Research Laboratory (LFF) at the RUB and Chair of Production Systems. The maturity model compares the companies' target and their actual situation and therefore shows the potential and further development needs in relation to the companies' digital capabilities. It also helps to develop competence development programs and individual future strategies for companies.
In the framework of the new research project, the model will be further developed, tested and applied in selected training companies in different EU countries. In addition, project partners will develop quality standards for Learning Labs. "Learning Factories offer many opportunities for stakeholders to acquire digital skills. It makes sense to professionalise the acquisition of skills and integrate them into existing in-house training and continuing education," explains Professor Martin Kröll.
In the future, digital coaches will support companies in developing and implementing digital business models. In particular, they are to promote thinking from the customer's perspective as well as cross-industry thinking and disseminate agile thinking process involving all participants in the process. The central objective is to promote the acceptance of digital strategies. Thus, Digital Coaches can contribute their knowledge of value-added networks and the changes they bring about through digitalisation.
Based on these results, the project team is developing a certificate program for Digital Coaches. It consists of several self-learning modules on the following topics: Quality Management as a basis for digitization in companies, Corporate strategy for digital transformation and agile project management, Possibilities and limitations of learning transfer and learning location collaboration, Value Added Processes as Starting Points for Digitization, Strategies for Ensuring the Adoption of Digital Solutions in Companies, Constraints and Opportunities for Participation in the Implementation of Digital Solutions and Development of New Business Models against the Background of Digitisation and Corporate Collaboration.
